چکیده
In order to quantify the impacts of silvicultural treatments in semiarid forests, it is necessary know how they affect key aboveground processes and also properties characterizing forest floor mineral soil compartments. The general objective this work study mid-term effects thinning intensity on after 13 years following intervention. experimental design consisted a randomized block with four (3 plots plus control or unmanaged plot) three blocks replicates. Several determinations, such as total organic carbon, dissolved basal respiration, were performed for by considering random sampling points per plot. Thirteen thinning, content, different carbon fractions studied, respiration higher These results, however, contrasted those obtained soil, where significant differences between only observed C/N ratio, while not affected intensity. Our results suggest better quality biological activity enhanced consequence improved environmental conditions litterfall input. latter especially important forests tree leaves low biodegradability, new understorey species promoted can provide nutrient availability remaining trees and, therefore, resilience.

Forest thinning and soil respiration in a ponderosa pine plantation in the Sierra Nevada.
Soil respiration is controlled by soil temperature, soil water, fine roots, microbial activity, and soil physical and chemical properties. Forest thinning changes soil temperature, soil water content, and root density and activity, and thus changes soil respiration. We measured soil respiration monthly and soil temperature and volumetric soil water continuously in a young ponderosa pine (Pinus ...
متن کاملWhole-tree and forest floor removal from a loblolly pine plantation have no effect on forest floor CO2 efflux 10 years after harvest
Intensive management of southern pine plantations has yielded multifold increases in productivity over the last half century. The process of harvesting merchantable material and preparing a site for planting can lead to a considerable loss of organic matter. Intensively managed stands may experience more frequent disturbance as rotations decrease in length, exposing the stands to conditions tha...

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...

In this study, the effects of the management on the biodiversity of a subtropica...
متن کاملRegeneration of a Coastal Pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.) Forest 11 Years after Thinning, Niigata, Japan
To examine the effects of thinning intensity on wind vulnerability and regeneration in a coastal pine (Pinus thunbergii) forest, thinning with intensities of 20%, 30% and 50% was conducted in December 1997; there was an unthinned treatment as the control (total 8 stands). We re-measured the permanent sites to assess the regeneration characteristics 11 years after thinning. In the 50% thinned st...
